Resurrection: The Gilded Queen

This striking mixed-media piece serves as a powerful statement of Afrofuturism, blending ancient Egyptian iconography with a contemporary aesthetic.

The figure, reminiscent of the iconic bust of Queen Nefertiti, is presented with rich, midnight-black skin and a towering headdress.

The artwork is heavily adorned with elaborate gold and pink-and-white beaded jewelry, including a broad usekh collar and disc earrings.

The deliberate use of black and gold evokes strong symbolism: black represents resurrection and the fertile land of the Nile, while gold symbolizes divine power and eternity.

The piece challenges historical narratives by reclaiming and recontextualizing ancient African royalty through a modern, vibrant lens.
